Intro

Having coffee is a popular pastime here in Portland. Some people argue that we have the best coffee in America.

Sara and John are talking about a great place to go.

Dialogue

John: So, where’s your favorite place to go to coffee Sara?

Sara: Well, John, I really like Coffee Time on 21st.

John: Really? I don’t think I’ve ever been there.

Sara: You’ve never been there? It’s like a total hipster hangout. Which maybe is why you haven’t been there.

John: Oh, that’s pretty funny. What’s so cool about it?

Sara: Well, they have really good outdoor seating with a heater so you can sit out there when it’s cold.

John: Oh yeah.

Sara: And there’s all these people like hanging out, playing chess, And there’s all kinds of cool stuff to read inside.

John: Oh. You know what? I have been there before.

Sara: Oh, now you remember.

John: But it wasn’t really my style. The food wasn’t very good.

Sara: Well, they don’t really have food.

John: Yeah, See, I like something to snack on.

Discussion

Certainly, anything that makes sitting outside in the cold comfortable is a good idea. This place is really cool because you can hang out around the heater and chill for hours.

It’s not the only place to go for coffee in Portland though. Every neighborhood has its own little coffee shop with its own group of regulars.

It sounds like Sara is one of the regular at Coffee Time. Are you and your friends regulars at any place?
